چکیده

The Vaganov–Shashkin process-based model was used to explore the variation characteristic of radial growth rate Pinus tabulaeformis in agro-pastoral transition zone northern China. tree-ring width chronologies four sampling sites were significantly positively correlated with simulated series (p < 0.01), and onset end dates tree indicated that April October main growing season. Temperature affects stems at start season, while soil moisture availability Despite differences amplitude, integral showed a bimodal pattern, which some extent responded hydrothermal configuration East Asian summer monsoon climate. Compared peak changes fringe area Northwest China, highest this study appeared around August late reflecting adaptability trees local climatic environment. average values due moisture, inferred from extreme wide-ring narrow-ring years, different rates temperature not significant > 0.05). analysis results indicate is key limiting factor for tabulaeformis. Our provides valuable knowledge about processes species related hydroclimatic variables China offers new perspective on mitigating adverse effects warmer climate forest semi-arid region future.

Decadal Trend in Agricultural Abandonment and Woodland Expansion in an Agro-Pastoral Transition Band in Northern China

Land use land cover (LULC) changes frequently in ecotones due to the large climate and soil gradients, and complex landscape composition and configuration. Accurate mapping of LULC changes in ecotones is of great importance for assessment of ecosystem functions/services and policy-decision support. Decadal or sub-decadal mapping of LULC provides scenarios for modeling biogeochemical processes a...

Detecting Sustainability of Desertification Reversion: Vegetation Trend Analysis in Part of the Agro-Pastoral Transitional Zone in Inner Mongolia, China

Vegetation dynamics are an important topic in the field of global environment change, which is of great significance to monitor temporal–spatial variability of desertification at regional or global scales. Following the reported desertification reversion in the late 1990s in the Horqin Sandy Land, an issue was concerned for desertification control by decreased water availability. To detect the ...

Response of Vegetation and Soil Carbon and Nitrogen Storage to Grazing Intensity in Semi-Arid Grasslands in the Agro-Pastoral Zone of Northern China

Overgrazing has been the primary cause of grassland degradation in the semi-arid grasslands of the agro-pastoral transition zone in northern China. However, there has been little evidence regarding grazing intensity impacts on vegetation change and soil C and N dynamics in this region. This paper reports the effects of four grazing intensities namely un-grazed (UG), lightly grazed (LG), moderat...
